The Trade Rules
The law comes first. Chauchat machine rifles, and any part the law treats as a machine gun or a machine-gun component, fall under the National Firearms Act and under state law. Do not list or buy a full-automatic firearm or a regulated part unless the transfer is entirely lawful — which in practice means through a licensed dealer with the correct paperwork.
- Legality is the seller’s and buyer’s responsibility. The Society is not a dealer, handles no money, ships nothing, and vouches for nobody.
- Describe honestly. Condition, markings, repairs, replaced parts and anything missing. A photograph is worth a paragraph.
- Memorabilia is wide open. Photographs, documents, manuals, postcards, magazines, pouches, tools and books are all welcome.
